More than 4,500 children adopted from foster care this year celebrated finding their forever families during the 10th Annual National Adoption Day on November 21. After a decade, the number of children in foster care adopted on National Adoption Day totals nearly 30,000. Los Angeles hosted a celebration with Actress Nia Vardalos.

Judges Joseph M. Lauria and Anthony Trendacosta presided over the adoptions of 368 children and their new families at the Queens Family Court in Jamaica, New York, and at the Edmund D. Edelman Children's Court in Los Angeles on November 15 for National Adoption Day, an annual nationwide celebration of foster care adoption.
Senate Passes Resolution Supporting National Adoption Month and Day (PDF)

On Monday, 37 Members of the United States Senate joined forces to pass a resolution supporting the goals of National Adoption Day and National Adoption Month. Last Thursday, the House of Representatives passed a similar resolution.

Out of respect for the nation's remembrance of the 45th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, the National Adoption Day Coalition elected to move the celebration of National Adoption Day this year only to the Saturday prior.
